Daughters with an Eating Disorder such as Anorexia – My Deeply Personal Story

Besides my homeopathy practice, I currently have a side job at a hospital. I deliver meals to patients there, and for now, it’s a nice balance to my practice work, where I sit most of the day. At the hospital, I walk about 15,000 steps a day! And I get to be kind to sick people – something I truly believe I was born to do.

Anyway, last Saturday I worked on the children’s ward for the first time. As a child homeopath, that felt really special to do.
I was told right away that it was going to be a challenging day because there were three girls admitted with an “eating disorder.”
All three were teenage girls – around the same age my own daughters once were – and they had to eat at fixed times. Everything was written down: exactly what they had to eat, how much, and at what time. Apparently, that was taken very seriously.

I remember thinking: If they get their food five minutes late, will they refuse to eat it? Or get angry with me?
I didn’t know what to expect.

Anyway, I worked that whole day on the ward, and of course, I also served these three girls. You can imagine – when I placed the trays in front of them, especially one girl in particular… if looks could kill, I wouldn’t be here right now!
She looked at me as if to say: You can put it in front of me, but I’m not going to eat it.
And indeed, when I later collected the trays, none of the meals had been touched.
Even the mothers who were sitting beside them couldn’t do anything about it.

That really struck me that day. On my drive home, I couldn’t stop thinking: How did these girls get to this point where they simply don’t want to eat anymore? What must have happened at home, or what kind of trauma did they experience?

And then, in that same car ride, I realized something very personal – something I want to share with you.
When I was their age, I almost went down that same path myself.

For me, it started with a comment from a tennis coach. (At that time, I had a very ambitious tennis career, with an even more ambitious father on the sidelines.) One day, my coach told me I would have had even more talent and potential for the selection I was in if I were just a little thinner.
Add to that a mother who exercised a lot of control, and well – you had the perfect ingredients.

So what did I do?
I wanted to eat as little as possible. I weighed myself twice a day – in the morning and in the evening – and during the day, I started secretly throwing away my food at school. I also began running a lot to lose as much weight as I could. Within one winter, I had lost about ten kilos!
Until I reached a point where I realized that things were going wrong – it had become a real obsession. That’s when I confessed everything to my parents.

They were so shocked that they immediately wanted family therapy, but the thought of that terrified me as a teenager. So instead, I made the decision myself to turn things around – and I started eating again.

It’s strange to look back and realize that now.
Because what if I hadn’t been able to flip that switch? What if I had continued that destructive behavior?
I could easily have ended up in the hospital like those three girls.

Luckily, I came out of it well. But it made me realize how quickly it can happen – how easily a teenage girl can get caught up in certain beliefs or behaviors because of something someone said, or something that happened.
And often, only later can she understand what really caused it.

Today, I’m a child homeopath and a medium, and I’m grateful that I can now help girls like these.

First of all: I have been there and done that.
Secondly: as a medium, I can tune into the energy and see where the root causes and emotional needs of your daughter lie.
And thirdly: as a child homeopath, I can help her even more effectively with the right remedies.

I just checked my repertories and found that there are no less than 68 homeopathic remedies that can help with anorexia, and another 12 for girls struggling with bulimia.

Please don’t carry this burden alone.
Reach out – I will help your daughter with all the love and care she needs so that she can move forward with confidence and, as a result, begin to eat healthily again.
